The Junior Entrepreneur Programme (JEP) is a 12-16 week entrepreneurial education programme for primary school children. Developed in Ireland, this innovative programme opens the minds of pupils to the joy of entrepreneurship while developing a number of skills including literacy, writing, presentation, drawing, technology, research skills, numeracy, financial, consumer awareness, storytelling, listening skills, creative thinking, problem solving, team building and collaboration skills.
During the programme the children taking part propose a number of ideas, with one of these being chosen as a class business.
The programme also has a significant impact on building confidence, self-awareness and self-esteem, and an appreciation of individual skills and talents of each child.
Maths in Action: Counting Sales From JEP
Our budding entrepreneurs put their real maths skills into action today as they diligently counted the generous earnings from their sales for their Junior Entrepreneur Programme (JEP) venture! It was fantastic to see addition, subtraction, and problem-solving come to life as the children worked together to tally their earnings. This hands-on experience truly demonstrates the practical application of mathematics in a meaningful context. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and supported our young entrepreneurs on their exciting JEP journey – your generosity is invaluable!

Meet the Dragons Session
Our Junior Entrepreneur Programme students experienced a taste of the business world as they pitched their innovative ideas to a panel of "Dragons": Ms. Dunworth, Ms. Griffin, and special guest Lisa Daly, a local parent and business owner. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and a touch of nervous anticipation as each team presented their proposals.
The range of ideas was impressive, showcasing the students' creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. From the aromatic allure of handcrafted candles to the sweet temptation of gourmet cupcakes, and the practical appeal of the "Boring Kit" (a collection of boredom-busting activities), to the promise of luxurious travel with "Travel in Style," the Dragons were presented with a diverse array of concepts.
The Dragons, faced with a tough decision, listened attentively to each pitch, asking insightful questions and offering valuable feedback. After much deliberation, they narrowed the field to two standout proposals: the practical and engaging "Boring Kit" and the aspirational and comfortable "Travel in Style." Ultimately, the Dragons saw the potential in combining these two strong ideas, envisioning a business that offers both entertainment and comfort for travellers.
The pupils will now have the opportunity to develop their combined concept over the coming weeks. They will refine their business plan, explore marketing strategies, and work towards bringing their vision to life. We're incredibly proud of all the students who participated in the programme and look forward to seeing what the future holds for these budding entrepreneurs. Our students experienced an inspiring 'Meet the Entrepreneurs' webinar as part of their journey in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme (JEP). This interactive session connected our young learners with seasoned professionals who shared their stories, offered advice, and provided valuable insights into the world of entrepreneurship. The JEP empowers students to develop key skills in creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, and the 'Meet the Entrepreneurs' webinar serves as a crucial link between classroom learning and real-world application. We're thrilled to be a part of the JEP and witness our students' entrepreneurial spirit blossom.
