Our Junior Room has been buzzing with excitement during Show and Tell! It’s one of the best times of the week, allowing the pupils to become brilliant storytellers.
We've seen fantastic items—from beloved family photos and special cuddly toys to unique treasures found on holiday. Every item comes with a great tale! This activity is a wonderful way for the children to boost their confidence, practice speaking clearly in front of the class, and learn the valuable skill of listening respectfully to their friends.
Keep those wonderful items and stories coming! We're so proud of our confident communicators!
Maths Week 2025

Sensory Regulation Stations
Sensory Regulation Fun in Junior Infants!
Our Junior Infants have been enjoying the new sensory regulation equipment this week! 🌈✨
These special tools help the children move, stretch, balance, and focus — giving their bodies and minds a short break during the day. The boys and girls have loved exploring the new resources, which support calm, concentration, and readiness for learning.
It’s wonderful to see so many happy faces as they jump, balance, and take mindful moments to reset and refocus for the next part of their busy school day!
STEM Fun: Building a Home for Autumn the Squirrel! 🐿️🍂
Our Infants have been busy exploring STEM through play this week! Using blocks, natural materials, and plenty of imagination, the children worked together to design and build cosy homes for Autumn the Squirrel, who belongs to Ellen.
They planned, constructed, tested, and problem-solved — just like real engineers! It was wonderful to see such creativity, teamwork, and excitement as they made sure Autumn would have a warm and safe place for the colder months ahead. 🌰🏡

Listening, Learning, and Laughing: Senior Infants Start Talk Boost!
Our Senior Infants kicked off their Talk Boost journey with Ms. Griffin today! The children are learning so many great new skills.
The first session was all about getting to know the program and focusing on some key areas. Our little learners were busy exploring:
Listening skills: They practiced paying close attention and following instructions.
Vocabulary: The class discovered new words and their meanings.
Building sentences: They learned how to put words together to form clear sentences.
Telling stories: We heard some fantastic short stories as the children worked on structuring their narratives.
Conversations: The children practiced having back-and-forth chats with their friends, using their new skills.
We're so proud of how well everyone is doing and we can't wait to see their communication skills blossom throughout the programme!
Settling back in to the Junior Room with lots of explorative play for the Infants and a new challenge for the 2nd Class as they tackle cursive handwriting for the first time!

A Special Milestone – First Confession
We are so proud of our 2nd Class girls who celebrated their First Confession this week. Congratulations to Grace, Áine and Cleo, who took this important step in their faith journey with reverence and joy.
It was a beautiful occasion, filled with reflection, prayer, and a sense of peace. The girls have been learning about forgiveness, kindness, and God's love throughout the year, and this ceremony marked a meaningful moment for them and their families.
Well done to all involved, and thank you to Canon Duhig who helped prepare the children so well for this special day.

Maths is More Than Numbers: A Fun and Engaging Learning Experience
Have you ever wondered how maths can be more than just numbers and equations? At Scoil Naomh Mhuire, we believe that maths is a fascinating subject that can be learned through fun and engaging activities. That's why our junior pupils have been exploring the new primary maths curriculum through hands-on learning experiences.
From building towers and measuring their heights to sorting and counting colourful objects, our young learners are discovering the joy of maths in a playful and interactive way. These activities help them develop essential mathematical skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, and spatial awareness.
Check out these photos to see our pupils having a blast while learning:
By making maths relevant and enjoyable, we hope to inspire a lifelong love of learning in our students. After all, who says maths can't be fun?
The children in Junior Infants have been busy working on their fine motor skills this month.
